These terms apply to your use of SampleTestFiles at https://sampletestfiles.com ("the site") and the sample files it offers. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the site provides
The site offers sample files, reference information about file formats and guides to software testing. It is provided free of charge and is funded by advertising. No account is required.
2. Licence for sample files
The sample files available for download were created for this site. You may, free of charge and without asking permission:
- download, copy and store them;
- use them in manual and automated testing, development, demonstrations, training and documentation, including in commercial projects;
- modify them and include them, or modified versions, in your own test suites and repositories.
You do not need to credit SampleTestFiles. You may not present the unmodified files as your own product for sale, and you may not use them in a way that breaks the law.
3. Website content
The text, design and code of the site itself, as distinct from the sample files, remain the property of the site's operator. You may quote short passages with a link to the source. You may not republish substantial parts of the guides or reference pages without permission.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting;
- download files in a manner that places unreasonable load on the service, for example by repeatedly fetching large files from an automated job when a cached copy would do;
- use the site to distribute malware or to mislead others about the origin or nature of a file;
- click on advertisements for any purpose other than genuine interest, or use automated means to generate ad impressions or clicks.
If your tests or pipelines need the files regularly, download them once and keep your own copy.
5. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site and the file URLs stable, but we do not guarantee that the site, or any particular file, will always be available, unchanged or free of errors. Files may be added, regenerated, moved or removed. A regenerated file may have a different checksum. Do not build anything critical that depends on fetching a file from the site at run time.
6. No warranty
The site and the sample files are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
The reference information and guides are written with care, but software and standards change. Default limits, configuration names and behaviours described on the site may differ in the version you use. Check the official documentation before relying on any of it.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of SampleTestFiles is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, revenue or profit, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its files. You use the files in your own systems at your own risk and are responsible for testing in an environment where a failure can do no harm.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
8. Third-party links and advertising
The site links to external documentation and displays advertisements supplied by third parties. We do not control those sites or the products advertised, and a link or an advertisement is not an endorsement.
9. Trademarks
Product and company names mentioned on the site, such as file format names and software products, may be trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify the formats and software concerned. SampleTestFiles is not affiliated with or endorsed by those owners.
10. Copyright complaints
If you believe that material on the site infringes your copyright, follow the procedure on the copyright and DMCA page.
11. Privacy
Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
13. Contact
