What is a 500 KB test file?
Half a megabyte falls between two worlds. It is too big for the default JSON body limits of most frameworks and for a single DynamoDB item, yet well under the 1 MB default that web servers apply to uploads.
That makes it the right file for confirming that an API endpoint rejects oversized bodies cleanly, and that an upload endpoint, configured separately, accepts them.
In everyday terms: A photo from a messaging app, or a PDF of a few dozen pages.
